Ahmadian: Any Hostile Action Against Iran Will Come at a Heavy Cost
Ali Akbar Ahmadian, the representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader to the Supreme National Defense Council, stated that the Islamic Republic considers its security a sacred and uncompromisable principle.
He warned that what he described as “American maritime interference” in global shipping and energy routes would be met with complex asymmetric responses, significantly altering the strategic balance and imposing costs that would exceed any acceptable threshold for adversaries.
Ahmadian emphasized that these remarks are not merely warnings but reflect realities that will become evident in practice.
His comments come amid rising tensions in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, where Iran accuses the United States of increasing military adventurism and destabilizing key energy corridors.
Iranian forces have repeatedly cautioned US naval vessels against approaching the area, while the IRGC continues to assert control through missile and drone exercises.
Tehran maintains that it is exercising sovereign authority over the strategic waterway, allowing only vessels that comply with Iranian security regulations to pass.
The statement follows recent US declarations regarding efforts to challenge Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz. In response, Iran warned that any unauthorized passage by military or commercial ships would be met with immediate and decisive action.
Earlier reports also indicated that Iranian naval forces fired missiles and drones as a warning toward approaching US warships that had ignored repeated instructions to keep their distance from the Strait.
