IRGC: Transit Through Strait of Hormuz Requires Iran’s Approval
Major General Yadollah Javani, the IRGC deputy for political affairs, said in an interview with Iranian state television that Iran views managing the Strait of Hormuz as a strategic responsibility. He argued that this management could help shape a new international order.
Javani stressed that any ship wishing to pass through the designated area must coordinate with Iran’s armed forces to guarantee safety, adding that vessels from hostile actors would face a firm response.
According to him, Iran has maintained control over the Strait since the start of what he described as US-Israeli aggression, permitting only non-hostile ships that comply with Iranian security rules to transit.
In a related development, Iran’s navy reportedly launched missiles and drones as a warning toward approaching US warships near the Strait of Hormuz, after they allegedly ignored repeated cautions to stay away.
