Iran Warns Foreign Forces Against Entering Strait of Hormuz, Threatens Military Response
Major General Ali Abdollahi, Commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, issued a stark warning against the presence of foreign military forces near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, stressing that Iran retains full authority over the waterway’s security.
In an official statement, Abdollahi said that the responsibility for maintaining security in the strait lies solely with the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding that any safe maritime passage must be coordinated with Iranian forces under all circumstances.
He accused the United States and its allies of engaging in what he described as acts of “piracy” and maritime disruption in international waters, claiming such actions have endangered global trade and economic stability.
The Iranian commander emphasized that Iran’s armed forces are fully prepared to respond decisively to any threats or hostile actions, stating that past responses have demonstrated the country’s readiness to act “harshly” against aggression at any level or location.
Abdollahi reiterated that Iran is firmly managing the security of the Strait of Hormuz and called on commercial ships and oil tankers to avoid transiting the waterway without prior coordination with Iranian authorities, warning that failure to do so could put their safety at risk.
He further warned that any foreign military presence—especially that of the United States—approaching or entering the strait would be met with force.
The statement also cautioned countries aligned with Washington against actions that could escalate tensions, warning that further US intervention would complicate the situation and increase risks to maritime security in the region.
