Brent crude surged by up to 13 percent in early Asian trading on Monday before easing, settling around $76.48 per barrel by midday Tokyo time, marking a roughly 5 percent increase.

Asian equities opened lower, with Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index down about 2 percent and Japan’s Nikkei 225 falling 1.5 percent, according to reports from Al Jazeera.

In the United States, stock futures traded outside regular hours also posted losses, signaling potential volatility on Wall Street. Futures for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were both down approximately 0.7 percent, reflecting investor caution amid rising geopolitical tensions.
