The remarks were made during a phone conversation on Thursday between President Pezeshkian and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which the two leaders reviewed recent developments in Iran, regional security concerns, and prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation.

Pezeshkian stressed that the large-scale, pro-government demonstrations by the Iranian public played a decisive role in foiling the objectives of those behind the recent unrest, effectively neutralizing their plans. He expressed gratitude to the Turkish government and people for what he described as their firm, principled, and brotherly support for the Islamic Republic.

Outlining the background of recent events, the Iranian president said that while some merchants and trade groups had staged peaceful protests over economic pressures linked to sanctionsissues that were being responsibly addressed through dialogue—organized terrorist groups escalated the situation. According to Pezeshkian, these groups, backed by the United States and the Israeli regime, carried out violent attacks on mosques, public and government buildings, emergency services, and security forces.

He underscored that the awareness and active participation of the Iranian people ultimately defeated these destabilizing efforts. Pezeshkian also praised the solidarity shown by Islamic countries, voicing confidence that unity and cooperation among Muslim nations would be key to combating terrorism and advancing lasting peace and stability in the region.

Referring to the positive trajectory of Iran–Türkiye relations, Pezeshkian reiterated Tehran’s resolve to further deepen bilateral ties and formally invited President Erdogan to Tehran for the ninth session of the Iran–Turkey High-Level Cooperation Council.

For his part, President Erdogan offered condolences for the lives lost in the recent incidents and emphasized that Iran’s peace, stability, and security are of strategic and vital importance to Turkey. He welcomed Iran’s structured and principled handling of the protests, as well as the economic steps taken to reduce tensions.

Erdogan also reaffirmed Ankara’s firm opposition to any interventionist scenarios against Iran and conveyed his warm greetings to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, along with the Iranian government and people.
