As faculty members in the fields of Civil Engineering and Architecture at Islamic Azad University in Isfahan Province, we express our deep concern regarding the reported damage to the B‑1 Bridge in Karaj.

Bridges and transportation infrastructure are essential lifelines of cities. They support mobility, economic activity, emergency response, and the daily safety of citizens. Damage to such structures can disrupt urban life, endanger public safety, and create social and economic challenges.

From a professional and academic perspective, the protection, maintenance, and resilience of civil infrastructure must remain a priority. Engineers, architects, and urban planners share a responsibility to advocate for the safety and preservation of structures that serve communities.

Incidents that threaten the integrity of bridges and transportation systems highlight the importance of strengthening infrastructure resilience and improving risk management.

As educators and researchers, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing engineering knowledge and promoting safe design practices to protect the built environment and the communities who depend on it.
