Lebanese Analyst Nasser Qandil: Trump Is Lying About Iran War, No Strategic Victory Achieved
According to remarks reported by ANA News Agency, Qandil argued that Iran has demonstrated resilience as a functioning state with strong institutional foundations, remaining steadfast despite the continuation of hostilities. He stressed that there are currently no effective deterrents capable of stopping Iranian missiles targeting Israel.
Qandil further noted that major American media outlets are awaiting Tehran’s response to Trump’s proposed negotiation framework. He suggested that Trump’s rhetoric is aimed at creating confusion within Iran over the prospect of dialogue, while underscoring that any decision to negotiate ultimately rests with Iran’s leadership, particularly Mojtaba Khamenei.
The Lebanese analyst also drew a contrast between what he described as Trump’s use of incentives and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s reliance on intimidation tactics in dealing with Iran. He added that Tehran is unwilling to engage again with the same negotiation channels previously used in Oman and Geneva.
Qandil concluded that Iran would not be “deceived” in future negotiations as it believes happened in the past, asserting that the country is currently engaged in an intense conflict while exposing vulnerabilities in both Tel Aviv and U.S. military bases across the region.
