Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke by phone Sunday night with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein to exchange views on recent regional and international developments.

During the call, Araghchi briefed Hussein on the latest updates regarding indirect nuclear negotiations between Iran and the United States, outlining Tehran’s perspective on the diplomatic process.

Hussein welcomed the update and reaffirmed Baghdad’s support for continued dialogue. He expressed hope that the talks would produce constructive results for Iran while also contributing to broader regional peace and stability.

In a separate phone call, Araghchi also conferred with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

The two officials reviewed regional developments and assessed the current state of indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington. Both sides emphasized the importance of sustained consultation and regional cooperation to strengthen diplomatic efforts and promote stability.

Renewed Iran–US Engagement

Iran and the United States have conducted two rounds of talks this month focusing on Iran’s nuclear program and the potential lifting of sanctions.

The discussions were held in Oman on February 6 and in Switzerland on February 17, marking the first such engagement since the 12-day conflict launched by Israel in June last year — a confrontation that later drew in the United States.

The renewed diplomatic contacts are being closely watched by regional actors amid cautious optimism over the prospects for de-escalation and a possible breakthrough in negotiations.
