Nation prepares for mass farewell as details emerge for martyred leader's funeral ceremonies
Brigadier General Hassan Hassanzadeh, head of the committee overseeing the funeral ceremonies for the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, announced details of the two-day farewell and funeral events scheduled for July 4 and 5 in Tehran.
The public farewell ceremony will begin at 6:00 a.m. on July 4 at Imam Khomeini Grand Prayer Grounds and continue until 8:00 p.m., while funeral prayers will be held on the morning of July 5. Due to the expected massive turnout, organizers have opted for a broad funeral corridor across Tehran rather than a single procession route.
Authorities have mobilized all relevant institutions, including municipal, healthcare, transportation, military, and law enforcement bodies, to facilitate the ceremonies. Extensive transportation, traffic management, and public service arrangements have been put in place, including dedicated service centers providing food, water, medical care, and sanitation facilities.
Organizers estimate attendance could range from 12 to 20 million mourners, making public safety and crowd management key priorities throughout the ceremonies.
