Iran rejects French FM comments as politically biased
In a statement posted on X, Baqaei said the French minister’s remarks represented what he described as the “peak of hypocrisy and duplicity,” arguing that such attitudes have long been embedded in French political culture. He referenced French playwright Molière’s Tartuffe (1664) as an early literary critique of insincerity.
Baqaei further accused France of remaining silent in the face of attacks on Iranian cities, including Minab, Tehran, Lamerd, and Isfahan, claiming that this silence effectively amounts to complicity with aggressors.
He argued that recent expressions of concern by the French foreign minister regarding the rights of Iranians are driven by selective political considerations rather than consistent humanitarian principles.
Concluding his remarks, Baqaei described what he called France’s “hypocrisy and duplicity” as “astonishing.”
