Iran boosts cyber cooperation with BRICS at New Delhi meeting

(Tehran Ana)- Iran showcased its cybersecurity capabilities at a BRICS ICT security meeting in New Delhi as member states discussed expanding cooperation on cyber threats.

Iran’s Deputy Head for Security in the Information Production and Exchange Space at the Iranian Information Technology Organization presented the country’s capabilities, expertise, and strategic vision in cybersecurity during the BRICS meeting.

The 12th session of the BRICS Working Group on Security in the Use of Information and Communication Technologies was held in New Delhi, where representatives of member states exchanged views on strengthening cybersecurity, enhancing technical cooperation, and addressing emerging threats in the digital space.

Delegations from Iran, India, China, Russia, Brazil, Indonesia, Egypt, Ethiopia, and South Africa participated in the meeting, emphasizing the importance of the working group in expanding multilateral cooperation in ICT security.

Hussein Moameni, Deputy Head for Security in the Information Production and Exchange Space at Iran’s Information Technology Organization, led the Iranian delegation and presented Iran’s insights and technical experience in the field.

Participants stressed the need to build a secure, sustainable, and peaceful digital environment and highlighted the importance of combating the criminal misuse of modern technologies.

They also underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation among Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs), including information sharing, technical collaboration, and capacity building.

The meeting addressed emerging cyber threats such as advanced cyberattacks, ransomware, and AI-driven risks, alongside discussions on effective countermeasures.

In conclusion, member states agreed to strengthen joint research, improve knowledge-sharing mechanisms, and expand cooperation between academic and research institutions to reduce skill gaps and build a more resilient digital ecosystem across BRICS countries.
