Iran Condemns Kuwait for Political Exploitation of Naval Incident
In a formal statement, Iran condemned what it described as Kuwait’s “inappropriate political and propaganda exploitation” of the incident involving four Iranian naval personnel. Tehran emphasized that the claims of hostile intent were entirely unfounded.
The ministry explained that the four sailors had inadvertently entered Kuwaiti waters due to a malfunction in their navigation system while conducting a standard patrol. Iran criticized Kuwait’s decision to interpret the mishap as evidence of aggression, dismissing official communications from both Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry and Interior Ministry as baseless.
Reaffirming its commitment to regional sovereignty and territorial integrity, including that of Kuwait, Iran called on Kuwaiti authorities to address such matters through diplomatic channels rather than public statements.
Tehran also demanded immediate consular access to the detained personnel and urged their swift release in line with international law.
