Velayati Warns Trump: Diplomacy Defeat Will Mirror Battlefield Loss

In a post on his X account, Velayati directly addressed Trump, stating, “We defeated you on the battlefield; do not expect to succeed in diplomacy.” His comments followed Trump’s recent claims that Iran had underestimated the U.S. and mocked it for decades, coupled with the repeated warning: “Iran will be laughing no longer.”

Velayati further highlighted that Trump’s nuclear threats against Iran, despite boasting about a “glorious ceasefire,” demonstrate his continued reliance on Pentagon misinformation regarding U.S. military casualties.
The senior Iranian official also alluded to Trump’s upcoming visit to China, cautioning that the U.S. president should not interpret Iran’s current restraint as a sign of weakness. Instead, he should familiarize himself with the “alphabet of the new geopolitical order in West Asia.”

Since the onset of the unprovoked U.S.-Israeli actions against Iran, Velayati has consistently ridiculed Trump’s statements, emphasizing that his rhetoric reflects a lack of understanding of the realities on the ground.
