Iran, Saudi Foreign Ministers Call for Regional Cooperation to Prevent Escalation
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi underlined the need for stronger cooperation among regional countries to curb rising tensions across West Asia.
Araghchi, who is currently in Beijing for talks with Chinese officials, held a phone conversation on Wednesday with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud to discuss the latest regional developments.
During the call, both sides reviewed recent political and security dynamics in the region and emphasized the importance of continued diplomatic efforts. They also highlighted the need to strengthen regional coordination in order to prevent the outbreak or escalation of tensions.
Araghchi’s visit to Beijing comes as he holds consultations with Chinese officials on bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues.
In his meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the Iranian top diplomat reiterated Tehran’s commitment to diplomacy, stressing that Iran remains both serious and consistent in pursuing diplomatic solutions.
