In a message on the occasion of National Day of the Persian Gulf, President Pezeshkian said the waterway represents an inseparable part of Iranian identity and a lasting symbol of the nation’s resilience against colonial influence. He stressed that the day serves as a reminder of the deep historical and cultural ties between Iran and the Persian Gulf region.

He noted that the Persian Gulf has long served as a hub of civilizational exchange and a key route for global trade and energy flows, underscoring its continued importance in regional and international affairs.

Referring to recent regional tensions, Pezeshkian pointed to the impact of what he described as aggressive actions by the United States and Israel against Iran, saying these developments have further highlighted the strategic significance of the Strait of Hormuz in global energy and security dynamics.

He also praised the role of Iran’s naval forces, describing their activities as evidence of the country’s commitment to safeguarding regional stability and protecting vital maritime routes.

At the same time, the president warned against what he described as attempts to impose maritime restrictions or blockades on Iran, calling such measures illegal under international law and holding external actors responsible for any resulting insecurity in the Persian Gulf.

Pezeshkian concluded by reaffirming Iran’s commitment to freedom of navigation, while emphasizing that lasting maritime security depends on regional cooperation among coastal states and the removal of foreign military presence from the area.
