Pakistan Pledges to Continue Mediating Between Iran and the US After Talks Stall

(Tehran Ana)- Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to ongoing mediation between Iran and the United States, following the conclusion of high-level talks without an agreement, and urged both sides to uphold the current ceasefire.

The Pakistani Foreign Minister reacted on Sunday to the end of the marathon talks, which stalled due to what observers describe as excessive American demands. "Islamabad will continue its necessary efforts to reach an agreement between the Iranian and American parties," Dar stated.

The Foreign Minister further underscored the importance of maintaining the current de-escalation, urging both nations to remain committed to the temporary truce. "We hope that both the Iranian and American sides will continue to adhere to the ceasefire," he added.

Pakistan has played a central role as a mediator and host since the beginning of the 40-day conflict, successfully brokering the current two-week ceasefire. Despite the absence of an immediate breakthrough in the Islamabad summit, Pakistani officials remain optimistic that the diplomatic channel remains the only viable path to preventing further regional instability and ensuring a sustainable peace.
