Iran Emphasizes Peace, Warns US Against Hostile Actions: FM Araghchi
In an article published in The Wall Street Journal, Araghchi called on Washington to change its approach and treat Iran with respect. He highlighted recent unrest in the country, noting that initially peaceful protests were hijacked by both domestic and foreign terrorist elements, leading to violence.
Araghchi defended temporary internet restrictions imposed during the unrest as necessary to maintain public safety, adding that communications are now gradually being restored. He detailed how civilians, law enforcement personnel, and public infrastructure—including hospitals—were targeted and damaged during the disturbances, but emphasized that normal life has returned.
The foreign minister criticized former US President Donald Trump for interfering in Iran’s internal affairs, arguing that attempts to provoke conflict, particularly for the benefit of the Israeli regime, caused significant bloodshed. He also referenced former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s remarks on Mossad influence as part of the same pattern.
Araghchi concluded with a warning that any new attacks against Iran would be met with decisive retaliation and called for Washington to pursue a policy based on respect and constructive engagement toward Tehran.
