Iranian scientist wins UNESCO young scientists award 2025
Ghiasi received the award in recognition of his applied research project titled “Wetland Revival through Water Tourism: A Strategy for Sustainable Livelihoods in the Miankaleh Biosphere Reserve.” The initiative was praised for integrating ecosystem restoration with sustainable tourism to support local communities.
According to Iran’s Department of Environment, cited by IRNA, the award highlights research that contributes to biodiversity conservation and promotes sustainable development.
UNESCO’s MAB Programme, which awarded Ghiasi, is a global initiative aimed at balancing human activity with nature conservation, protecting biodiversity, and advancing sustainable development.
The Young Scientists Award is presented annually to researchers whose work offers practical solutions to environmental challenges.
